Republican Rep. Jonathan Dixon, of Corydon, will not seek reelection in the Kentucky House, he announced Wednesday.?
Dixon, who was first elected in 2020, plans to finish the remainder of his term, which ends on Dec. 31, 2024. He is the vice chair of the House Transportation Committee
“I am incredibly grateful to the people of Henderson County for entrusting me with the privilege of representing them in Frankfort and I’m proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish over the past three years – lowering the income tax, passing the most responsible budget in modern history, and enacting legislation that has made this a better place to live and work,” Dixon said in a statement. “This decision was a difficult one, but ultimately the time has come to change my direction.”
Dixon represents House District 11, which includes Henderson County. He is also a member of several House committees: Agriculture; Local Government; and Licensing, Occupations, and Administrative Regulations. He played a role in passing legislation that created a benefits cliff calculator and sponsored a bill that clarified state law to ensure malt-based products could be bottled within the state. Dixon also helped create the Kentucky General Assembly’s Aviation Caucus.?
As of Wednesday afternoon, no candidates had filed with the Secretary of State’s office to run for Dixon’s district next year.?
