Greg J. Feeney has been named the president and CEO of Bluegrass Community and Technical College in Lexington.?

Feeney, who has been serving as interim president since July, is the former provost and a? 25-year employee of BCTC, a press release said. As provost, he was chief academic officer, chief student affairs officer and oversaw adult education and workforce development.

Feeney said “only good things ahead” at BCTC. He is expected to start as permanent president within the next few days.

“I am so excited to serve as Bluegrass Community and Technical College’s next president,” Feeney said. “It has been my honor to spend 25 years of my career at this incredible institution, and I look forward to working with the amazing team we have here, our incredible community partners, and taking this institution to the next step.”

BCTC’s former president, Koffi C. Akakpo, was named president of Kentucky State University in Frankfort earlier this year.?

Feeney was selected unanimously, said Larry Ferguson, acting president of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System, who was on the selection committee.??

“This is such exciting news for BCTC and the greater Lexington area,” Ferguson said. “Dr. Feeney brings a long record of leadership and accomplishment to the position, while also serving as a passionate advocate for student success both in the classroom and as students transition to the workforce.”

During his time at BCTC, Feeney has also been vice president of academics and workforce development, dean of academics, dean of academic support and assistant dean of history, languages and social sciences. His doctorate, which has an emphasis in interpersonal and health communication, is from the University of Kentucky. He completed his master’s degree with an emphasis in communication theory and organizational communication from Northern Illinois University.

BCTC is part of KCTCS, which includes 16 colleges and more than 70 campuses across Kentucky.?
