Ahead of Friday’s deadline to file for office, Kentucky governor hopefuls submitted needed paperwork to appear on ballots.?

As of Thursday afternoon, 10 Republican candidates had formally filed with the secretary of state’s office. Among those in the office Thursday were former United Nations Ambassador Kelly Craft, Agriculture Commissioner Ryan Quarles and Somerset Mayor Alan Keck.?

Craft was joined by her husband, Joe Craft, CEO of coal producer Alliance Resource Partners, and running mate, Sen. Maxwell Wise, R-Campbellsville. According to recent campaign finance reports, she has raised $1.3 million, the most of any Republican candidate.?

“This race is about restoring Kentucky’s Promise,” she wrote on Facebook.?

Quarles was “overwhelmed and humbled to be surrounded by so many supporters” while he filed Thursday, he said on Facebook. His campaign has raised a total of $930,000.

“The support we saw today is what we’re seeing all across the Commonwealth,” he wrote. “We’re starting 2023 by hitting the ground running and ready to earn every vote and win this Republican nomination!”

After he left the secretary of state’s Office, Keck said in a video that the amount of support he received was “humbling,” which included his family, law enforcement officials, educators and entrepreneurs. Keck’s finance reports show that his campaign has raised $204,800.?

“We’re going to talk about being ambassadors for this great dommonwealth, being proud of the things in here, so that we can grow at higher levels, so that we can recruit people that want to come out of these states with the policies that they don’t like,” he said.?

Republican Jacob Clark, of Leitchfield, also filed Thursday. He is a former House of Representative candidate who was among those who filed a petition to impeach current Democratic Gov. Andy Beshear.?

Earlier in the week, Attorney General Daniel Cameron and former northern Kentucky attorney Eric Deters filed to run for governor. Cameron’s campaign has amassed $967,400. According to campaign finance reporters, Deters has raised $99,491.44.?

Other Republicans who have filed to seekthe party’s nomination are State Auditor Mike Harmon (who’s raised $68,698.22), David O. Cooper (with $5,660), Robbie C. Smith (with $2,015) and Bob DeVore (who has no finance reports submitted).

Democratic Gov. Andy Beshear is expected to cruise to his party’s nomination against token opposition.

The deadline to file to run for office in Kentucky is 4 p.m. on Friday.?
