Lydia McFarlane joined OpenSecrets as a reporting intern in January 2024. A senior at Villanova University pursuing degrees in communication and political science, Lydia comes to OpenSecrets with breaking news experience from The Hill, education journalism experience from Education Week, and community reporting experience from Resolve Philadelphia. Lydia hopes to sharpen her research and data analysis skills with OpenSecrets as she embarks on her career in journalism, hoping to continue telling the stories of marginalized people and holding elected officials accountable in an effort to forge a stronger relationship between the American public and the media.
