Fenton Johnson

Fenton Johnson is an author and teacher. His novel “Scissors, Paper, Rock” is the Kentucky Humanities Kentucky Reads selection for 2024. His many works of fiction and nonfiction include the documentary film “Stranger with a Camera” directed by Elizabeth Barret and produced by Apalshop. He grew up in Nelson County and received a Wallace Stegner Fellowship at Stanford University and later earned an MFA in creative writing from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. His literary awards include a Guggenheim Fellowship, Lambda Literary Awards in fiction and creative nonfiction and membership in the Kentucky Writers Hall of Fame.
